For Health Professionals

Do you do therapy in conjunction with academic remediation?

To the greatest extent possible, we observe a clear boundary between students’ treatment and the mentoring we provide.¬†We are a therapeutically sensitive environment and our mentors are trained to provide general support to students, but they do not engage in discussions of emotional issues. Our role is to mentor/tutor academics and impart skills through non-academic practices that promote self-esteem and awareness (e.g. Tai Chi, Argentine Tango, yoga). ¬†Therapeutic needs or decisions that arise in the course of our mentor/tutoring are referred to outside treating professionals. Emergent emotional issues are referred to Dr. Rudin whenever possible so that he may notify appropriate outside therapists.
